Grant’s second wedding anniversary (straw). Had a lap supper for them. Gave them grass slippers and table mats and Myrlin a tang tsoi. Boat meeting and prayer meeting. Work in general – wrote letters.

Sha Lin, Miss Pierce, Chau Si Ni, Old Ah Po and I, ate rice, dry duck and cabbage. Preached at night. Slept on bed boards.

Came home on 8:45 train. Callers, cleaned store room in chapel. Mr. Au Muk Sz from Shiu Hing came.

Chinese New Year day. Clear, pretty day. Callers. In bed.

Rain. Callers. Woman at hospital died. Made her shroud here.

Went to meeting. First for one week. Dinner at Grant’s. Callers.

Albert came home. Good meetings. Callers. Nam Tau preacher dismisses. Mung went back up there. Candy from Grandma.

Tuesday, February 20
Tseng Tak Chin’s brother Ah Fuk left for Sai Heung to be chapel keeper. Up most all day. Wrote letters.

Went to night meeting. Callers. Mended.

Thursday, February 22
Called at Mr. Hing’s. Callers. Not strong yet.

Friday, February 23
Up and down. Callers. Old 89-year Ah Po died at hospital.

Saturday, February 24
Callers. Helped dress the Old Ah Po for burial.

Sunday, February 25
Went to church in A.M. First casket brought into our mission. Funeral service from 11:30 to 12:30. About 100 went to cemetery.

First bottle of milk from dairy. Still week. Callers.

Dinner at Grant’s. Wrote for circular letter. Callers. Feel stronger.

Very cold. Callers. Began pulling down the houses in front of our church.

Judge and Mrs. Greene came from U.S. enroute to India. Sister Emslie sent the girls and me cloth for dresses, socks and a box of candy. We went out to the Shyno Maru and then had dinner at Missionary Home with Greenes.

Called on Judge and Mrs. Greene. Met Miss Stodghill. Went shopping, etc.

Albert broke his collar bone – fell from bicycle. Dr. Wong set it and then he went to Matilda.

Miss Friske, the girls and I and Mr. Au and Miss Braga went to hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Lum for lunch. Mr. Au for supper. Meetings.

Monday, April 9
Last bottle of s. milk. Paid S. fees. Callers. Finished Miss Friske’s brown silk dress. Mr. Au’s wife went in to this hospital in Yaumati.

Took blind boy to Hong Kong. Women’s meeting and night meeting – four at altar.

Mr. Ko and family arrived from Canton (preacher). Rain. Prayer meeting. They had no room yet so are all here in our home.

Rain. Ko Sin Shang first sermon (Acts 16:16). Called. Work in general. Street meeting.

Mr. Swanson here. Ko Sin Shang’s moved. Miss Stodghill came.

Came back after being in Missionary Home since Monday. Sewed and called. Prayer meeting in behalf of China’s war and needs.

Went to Hong Kong and bought shoes for the girls – $3.50 and $3.75. Rose Edna has fever. Bought their hair clips.

Up all night with Rose Edna – delirious. She sang “Glory to His Name”, etc. Her fever still very high. We took her to the Victoria Hospital (Peak, Hong Kong, South China). I went to the Matilda. Her fever kept up.

Wednesday, August 22
They sent for Albert to come. Rose Edna in danger – unconscious. Sister Smith and Albert watched over her until 7:30 A.M. Thursday A.M. when she went to be with Jesus. Amen. Thy will Lord.

Thursday, August 23
Funeral at 5:00 P.M. at Happy Valley Cemetery. I did not go. His Grace is sufficient.

Friday, August 24
Albert, Mrs. Grant and Helen came up to Matilda to see me. I went home.

Saturday, August 25
Put away some of Rose Edna’s things. Helen and Brother and Sister Grant went to Shamshuipo. Helen took fever abut 4:00. Went to over 105. We took her to Matilda. At 8:00 P.M. fever was 104. God answers prayer. We stayed with her.

Helen better. Albert and I came home. Went to see rose Edna’s grave. Grant’s visited Helen in P.M. No fever. A nice letter from her. Callers.

Callers. Letters. Albert went to visit Helen. Yan Tai’s mother died Saturday night in Canton Hospital. Rain.

Callers. Women’s meeting. Sister Smith sick at Swedner’s. Ellises and we had supper with Miss Friske. Stayed with Mrs. Smith until 9:30 P.M. – delirious.

Took Mrs. Smith to hospital and Helen came home well – Praise God. Rain. Yan Tai left with Roses to go to school in Koon Shaan.

Mr. Cheung came down from Sai Heung. Bible woman let for Nam Lau with him. Went to visit Sister Smith in Matilda – better.

Ellises, we and Miss Friske and Tauber had supper at Grant’s. His birthday tomorrow. Brother Iuon Mow Siu Shang and his daughter and son came enroute to WuChow school.
